Perl and stick tile7/19/2023 ![]() Still, from far away, they look similar to encaustic tiles. They are vinyl so they have that bumpy surface you would expect. These don’t look like real tiles in person. The chemical smell is strong and doesn’t dissipate over time. We realized this was glue (maybe from the manufacturing process), and we’re able to remove it with rubbing alcohol There were marks on the surface of the tiles that seemed to appear out of no where. Much easier to install than real tiles (in our experience) No issues with dirt and debris getting stuck between the tiles as I feared (at least in this room where there is little foot traffic) No issues with the tiles moving or coming off the floor This was an entirely different product than what I used on the wall material-wise. I’ve noticed a color discrepancy when ordering the same product on separate occasions, so I recommend ordering all you need with a few extras in one single order. They aren’t really more affordable than the real thing (of course, this depends entirely on the tile, but if I were going to purchase a similar looking, ceramic subway tile, it would actually be slightly cheaper than the peel and stick. A hot hair dryer will loosen the glue should you need to remove one. Definitely doable, but there is a learning curve, so I suggest practicing with some extras first. It’s challenging to line up the grout lines. The adhesive is very strong, so repositioning them once applied is nearly impossible without damaging the drywall. Much like real tile, these are permanent. This product is odor-free and appears to be a little more non-toxic than other’s I’ve compared on the market. ![]() The tiles aren’t just printed, they actually have a 3 dimensional surface, so they feel very much like real tiles once installed. I’m not sure how hard that would be to remove over time though. The tiles I used on the wall are from Tic Tac Tile.Īlready has self adhesive backing so no glue is necessary.Ĭomes in 12x12 inch sheets so you don’t have to apply each tile separately making the installation process faster. My pros for this tile: THE PRICE! The fact that they offer beautiful unique patterns! The tile is renter-friendly, especially if you are able to use them without using the very sticky carpet tape. The pattern is rather busy but since it is so cheap I didn’t fear that I would grow sick of it at some point.Would ripping out the tile and adding beautiful new tile last longer? Yes!!! But you pay for that too and it would never be this cheap. You can’t beat the cheap price! If you are on a budget and want a quick fix to simply like your space better then this tile is for you.My final thoughts about this cheap peel and stick floor tile That really added the finishing touch to the project. I was able to find enough clean tiles though to finish my project and still have extras.Īnd when everything was done, I precut and painted the quarter round molding and added it to the existing molding with my brad nailer to hide the slight gaps around the wall. Again, this tile is cheap and not perfect. Some boxes do have tiles with stains or marks on them like some of the reviewers mentioned.Make sure you have extra tiles left to replace possible damaged ones from wear and tear as time passes. This was definitely a must for me, especially in areas where the floor underneath wasn’t perfect. You might have to use other glue, like the carpet tape, to help the tile stick better.I tend to be that way but in the overall look it ended up being ok with me. It won’t be perfect and that’s ok because they are cheap and even with expensive handpainted tile this can happen. This might really bother someone who is a perfectionist. It is also sometimes referred to as vinyl plank flooring, vinyl tiles, or peel and stick tiles. In the end, it is impossible to match the pattern perfectly. Peel and stick flooring is made from a vinyl material thats roughly 0.3 to 0.5 millimeters thick (much thicker than wallpaper). Rotate the tiles before sticking them on the surface to minimize odd pattern offset.Don’t EVER use a magic eraser to clean this tile (look at the photo below, it dulls the tile and is super noticeable.Things I learned while applying these cheap peel and stick floor tiles:
